How come Brittany Norwood did not get a plea deal?

Brittany Norwood background is one of interest to some and to others they don't care. Norwood attend college and was a soccer star while there. Although some people accused Norwood of being a sticky fingers , Norwood has never been convicted of any crimes most of the women did not share similar backgrounds as Norwood. Norwood is from the west cost and comes from an African American background ethnic group.
Moving forward, In Norwood's trail recently, Norwood stated she killed Jayna Troxel Murray but , she stated lost. Norwood claims she did not plan it according to her lawyers opening statements.
Some people are asking after this statement was made by Norwood's attonery. Why Norwood did not receive a plea deal to second degree murder?
Some factors come into play with this case. The first factor is this a could be a career move for the prosecutor. Another factor is Norwood is Black and struggling at this time her life. Third factor the area of the murder which is an upscale area in DC. The fourth factor Murray has been painted as a white angel.
The last question is how much is this case causing the state of Maryland.
