Hollywood comes to Hagerstown October 13-16 when the Maryland International Film Festival-Hagerstown (MDIFF) kicks off the annual event. The festival will include a special appearance by one of Fade Magazine’s top “100 People in Hollywood You Need to Know,” “A Team” Director, Joe Carnahan. MDIFF Director, Tracie Donahue said, “Joe Carnahan is one of the most prolific filmmakers of our time who has written and directed some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster films. Our community will definitely benefit from his attendance.”

Joe Carnahan can relate to all struggling filmmakers. He too, cut his teeth in the film business barely making ends meet while working for a local television station. For Carnahan’s first film, “Blood, Guts, Bullets, and Octane,” he borrowed cameras, equipment, encouraged friends and family to be the actors and poured every last cent into his edgy film. His hard work paid off and after his festival success, Carnahan became famous with his critically acclaimed film “Narc.” Tom Cruise spotted this new director’s talent and hired him to direct Mission Impossible in 2006. But Mr. Carnahan left the project before it was completed. Instead he opted for his passion project “Smokin Aces” that he wrote and directed. Now he is one of most sought after directors in Hollywood. He has worked with Hollywood’s A-listers including Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds, Ben Affleck, Jeremy Piven and many more.
