PG County government is hosting a health screening. Although the Dental Screening does not mean free treatment, every little bit can help.
Free dental screenings for children 0 to 18 years of age will be offered at the Cheverly Health Center on a walk-in basis. Throughout the month of February, in celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month, Prince George’s County Health Department’s Dental Health program will offer free screenings to children 0 to 18 years of age.
“Parents will learn when their child should have their first dental visit, ways to prevent early childhood cavities, proper brushing and flossing techniques, and how smoking affects teeth,” said Donald Shell, M.D., M.A., Health Officer. “It’s important for residents to know that if their mouth and teeth are in poor health, other parts of their body may be in poor health also. The health of our mouth and teeth is connected to the health of the rest of our body.”
“Children’s teeth are meant to last a lifetime, and a healthy smile is important to a child’s self-esteem. With proper care, a balanced diet and regular dental visits, their teeth can remain healthy and strong,” said Dr. Debony Hughes, Dental Health Program Chief.
