The County Executive offered some suggestions as to the future challenges, expectations and needs of Harford County. They include:

• An update of the Mast Plan and Land Use Element to ensure the County is ready for proper growth.

• A unified water and sewer infrastructure encompassing the entire county, including all three municipalities and the Aberdeen Proving Ground.

• Education – the foundation of economic growth both on the operation side, to make the school system as efficient as possible, and enable Harford County to afford the best teachers and staff, and the capital side, with the potential for new schools to replace Havre de Grace High School; Youth Benefit Elementary; William Paca/Old Post Road Elementary and the John Archer school.

• The hidden unseen infrastructure of the 21st Century, with the need for the HMAN project, and wireless accessibility

• Adequate funding to enable the City of Aberdeen to maintain one of our jewels – Ripken Stadium, as well as possible funding or a Performing Arts Center, or a convention/meeting center or an Agriculture Center.

• The need for a new and efficient County office building to save money by eliminating the cost of rentals and repairs to reduce energy costs and to have one location for citizens to visit to conduct business.

• Finally, to keep government small and efficient, to keep taxes low and to provide citizens with the services they need.
