PG county Law enforecment meets to reduce Violent Crime

Prince George’s County Interim Chief of Police Mark Magaw, County Executive Rushern L. Baker III, Sheriff Melvin C. High, and State’s Attorney Angela D. Alsobrooks held a press conference today to update the public on the proactive and preventive public safety measures being taken to address the recent violent incidents in the county.
Chief Magaw thanked the Office of the County Executive, County Council, State Delegates, the Office of the Sheriff, FBI, DEA, ATF, the Maryland State Police, 21 municipal police departments, the Department of Corrections, the State’s Attorney’s Office, United State’s Attorney’s Office, Business and Community Leaders, and Crime Solvers for their assistance in a collaborative effort towards this mission. “The Prince George’s County Police Department is not alone in this fight. We have put together a comprehensive coalition of agencies to work with us to stop this recent spike of violence. The police department’s sole focus is stopping the cycle of violence,” stated Chief Magaw.
Four of the recent homicides have been closed with seven arrests. The three most recent arrests were made on January 15, 2011, in connection with the murder of Ansel Whitelocke on Cypress Creek Drive in Chillum, Maryland. Demarko Brian Williams, 23, David Henry Wright, 28, and Verlyncia Lillian Coleman, 21, were arrested and charged with First Degree Murder. Wright and Coleman lived in the 5700 block of Cypress Creek Drive; Williams lived in the 5400 block of 16th Avenue
