Now that Baker has taken power in Prince Georges County, he has to prove that he is the man for the job. For example, he is finding easy holes in the system to make correction.
Prince George’s County Executive, Rushern L. Baker, III announced that Prince George’s County has signed a contract with Virginia Tech University to conduct an independent audit of the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The Virginia Tech Center for Housing Research will perform the work stipulated under the contract’s scope of services and complete the audit by May 31, 2011. The contract is in the amount of $64,802 and will be administered by the Prince George’s County Office of Audits and Investigations.
“The Department of Housing and Community Development is a vital agency that affects the livelihood of thousands of Prince George’s families and children. It is critically important to make sure that this department is performing efficiently and providing great service to the residents,” explained County Executive Baker. “Since my first day in office, I have prioritized improving DHCD and look forward to the results and recommendations of this audit.”
People should fear for the management team in this department, it appears that the witch hunt is around the corner.
