Although College Park,MD is in the shadow of the Nations Capital, it is a college town due to the University of Maryland being near. It does have not that true college town touch because Prince Georges County has many things to distract you but, it had the college town type bars.
The Thirsty Turtle was a college bar at night but others times it was good watering hole. The drinks were cheap , good and strong . The Turtle was never in short supply of young tenders looking to drink too and the food was not too bad.
You could go in the Thirsty Turtle with 20 bucks and still come out with 5 after a few beers maybe a rail drink and some food including a tip. You tell where else can you find that these days. One would say not too many places.
Reports are coming in that Prince George’s County Board of License Commissioners, owner Alan Wanuck voluntarily surrendered Turtle’s liquor license, choosing to forgo an appeal of a board action last week to kill the license.
