Woodlawn Community Education and Development Association honored at event

Board of Education of Baltimore County President Earnest Hines, Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Joe A. Hairston, and County Executive Jim Smith were among the dignitaries and community leaders participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a $3.627 million renovation of the Woodlawn High School auditorium and gymnasium. Other Board members present at the event included Mike Bowler, Ramona Johnson, George Moniodis, and David Uhlfelder. Renovations Renovations for the school auditorium included new seating as well as enhancements to lighting, audio, and video systems. The gymnasium lobby and locker rooms were also improved. The school is located at 1801 Woodlawn Drive in Woodlawn. Part of the ceremony included recognizing the Woodlawn Community Education and Development Association, Inc., for contributing approximately $57,000 for the auditorium’s audio system and to assist with video system upgrades. In recognition of support from this organization, the Board of Education of Baltimore County approved renaming Woodlawn High School’s auditorium as WCEDA Community Auditorium.
