The Gbomai Bestman Foundation, a 501(c)(3), will host its inaugural fundraiser, entitled “The Platinum Health Benefit: Introducing The Gbomai Bestman Foundation”, Saturday, August 21, 2010, at The Manor Country Club (14901 Carrolton Road), in Rockville, Maryland. The goal of the fundraiser is to increase financial support for the foundation’s core objective; the eradication of maternal and infant mortality affecting women and children in Liberia, West Africa. The event will unite some of the most esteemed humanitarians, celebrities, dignitaries and business executives as they lend their support for a common cause.
Dikembe Mutombo, a well known humanitarian, will serve as the evening keynote speaker. Additional remarks will be given by Leymah Gbowee, the recent recipient of the prestigious John F. Kennedy Courage Award; and Russian designer Tysndyma Kroujilov will unveil her latest high fashion collection. Other notables include international soccer player George Weah; The Republic of Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Madam Marjon Kamara; actor Hassan Johnson; celebrity fashion blogger Brooke Kao and fashion and style icon Amber Rose.
“Because the world can be a better place when women are in a better place, we want to make a concentrated effort to improve a woman’s disadvantaged position,” said Gbomai Bestman, founder. “It may be the smallest piece of the messy pie of global problems – but [it] may prove to be the most important.”
